Our heritage
Clan Pods was formed early in the new trend for what is now known as glamping. Rather than follow what became the standard semi circle or gothic arch pattern for this type of building we set out to create a more versatile building that would allow more useable area and a greater feeling of space. A building that could be configured in different formats - single units, double units or combinations to make dynamic interesting practical buildings that functioned without compromise.
We are passionate about working with wood and with over 30years working in timber construction and forestry combined with having our own sawmill.
We seek to make durable, sustainably manufactured buildings that blend the best of traditional practice, humanity and the most modern technologies to create spaces that intrigue, excite and function.
Sustainability at the heart
Sustainability is a much used word these days but why do WE use it? Well, sustainability for us is a variety of different things that add up to ethics, purpose and action.
We are practical, we have big sustainability ambitions and intentions but through tough experience we know that it is important to do what we Can rather than at every turn doing what we want.
In our past we worked sourcing our timber from the forests cutting it and milling it ourselves and working it with hand tools, this is very sustainable in one sense but not sustainable when trying to create a modern production environment able to meet the needs of many rather than just a few.
We can be careful about where our timber originates from, how and where we use any treated timber, what insulation we use, minimize waste products which can become extensive in buildings without taking care.
We can strive to create high quality low energy, durable buildings that fulfil their function and are easy to maintain, repair and adapt to future needs.
We can do environmental reviews of our products so we can see the environmental cost of what we produce and are able to monitor this and make changes as required. We seek to have a healthy manufacturing environment that supports all those involved in our business.

At the heart of Clan Pods are Graham and Shelly, who have built the business around a shared passion for creating something different.
Graham brings a wealth of practical knowledge, craftsmanship and problem-solving to every project, while Shelly focuses on the creative, customer and business side of Clan Pods – Together developing new ideas and designs to make sure every customer receives a personal service.

We’re also fortunate to work alongside a trusted network of skilled tradespeople and contractors. From joiners and electricians to plumbers, groundworkers and other specialists, we bring the right people into the team, depending on the requirements of each project.
